The Ghajar Guide® One Piece (#01-0001)

Description

THE GHAJAR GUIDE® One Piece consists of an integrated tripod and lumen (Figure 2) This product is available in French 10 (Large, #O1-0001).

Instructions for Use

1. Make a burr hole in the mid-pupillary line, slightly anterior to the coronal suture. In adults this usually measures 10cm above the nasion and 3cm lateral to the midline (Figure 3).

2. Hold the catheter loaded guide (see "Loading the Catheter") firmly against the skull or scalp above the burr hole with one hand.

3. With the free hand, manually advance the catheter into the ventricle. The intracerebral catheter length will vary for different size craniums. In the normal adult the optimal length is 5cm .

4. Grasp the catheter through the base of the guide with shod forceps to prevent inadvertent movement.

5. Holding the catheter in place lift the guide and stylet off in one motion. Test for cerebrospinal fluid manometrics.

Loading the Catheter

Match the catheter to the insert to insure proper fit. Place the appropriate insert, with the flange oriented as in Figure 1, into the tripod base before loading the catheter

Nonflanged Catheter (Figure 4)

1. With stylet in place, insert catheter through proximal lumen of THE GHAJAR GUIDE.

Flanged Catheter (Figure 5)

1. Remove stylet from catheter (Figure 5a)

2. Insert the nonflanged end of the catheter through lumen of the guide from the base (Figure 5b)

3. Place stylet in catheter (Figure 5c)
